e-Safety    

The information and links on this page are about keeping ourselves and, more importantly, our children safe when using the internet and other communication devices. The messages are not meant to shock but designed to inform. Some are very VERY strong.

We all know that the internet can be used in all sorts of positive ways. It can be the World's largest encyclopedia giving you results of searches in fractions of the time it would take if you used books. It can be used to purchase items, often from different parts of the World. The use of video conferencing, instant messaging and social networking sites, like Bebo and Facebook, have brought friends and family from all parts of the World closer together.

When used positively, the internet is a VERY POWERFUL TOOL!

The rapid growth in the use of the internet, mobile phones and other communication devices means that we all have to be aware of issues that could occur with their use.

 

Do we as parents understand the new on-line terminology our children are using, or may use in the future? How can we become better informed to ensure our children are safe when using these technologies?

We should NOT to stop children from using these new technologies but educate ourselves and our children in how to use them properly and what we should do if we see or hear of something which makes us feel uncomfortable.
